UPI payment link generator

Enter a UPI ID and an amount to get a link anyone can tap and a QR code anyone can scan. It is built on this device — nothing you type leaves your browser.

Enter a UPI ID and an amount to get a link and a QR code.

Nothing is sent anywhere. The link and the QR code are built in your browser from what you typed, and this page never sees a payment — your bank app does all of it. Splitly is not a payment provider and does not touch, hold or move money.

What the link actually does

A UPI link is an address, not a transaction. Tapping it opens whichever UPI app is installed with the payee and amount already filled in; the payer still confirms it and enters their PIN, and their bank shows them the real registered account holder for that UPI ID before anything happens.

That last part is the security property worth understanding: the name you type here is a courtesy label, and payment apps ignore it in favour of the name their own records hold. You cannot make a link look like it belongs to somebody else.

Where a QR code is better than a link

A link is right when the payer is somewhere you can send a message — a group chat, an email, a shared note. A QR code is right when they are standing in front of you and neither of you wants to spell out a UPI ID.

Both encode exactly the same address, so it is a question of how the person in front of you prefers to pay.

The part that comes before the link

Being paid is the last step of a longer problem. Knowing what to ask for — across four days, five people and thirty receipts — is the hard part, and it is the part this tool deliberately does not guess at. Work the amount out with the settle-up calculator, or let a group keep the running total for you.

A link is the last step. The part before it — who owes whom, and why — is what a Splitly group works out for you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a UPI payment link?
Enter the UPI ID that should receive the money, an amount, and an optional note. The link is built in your browser in the format upi://pay, which every UPI app on the device understands.
Is a UPI payment link safe to share?
A link only names a payee and an amount — it cannot take money on its own. The payer opens it in their own bank app, sees the registered account holder for that UPI ID, and confirms with their PIN. Check the name your app shows you before paying anyone.
Do I need a business account to generate a UPI link?
No. Any personal UPI ID works, and nothing needs to be registered anywhere. This page does not create an account, take a fee or record the payment.
Does the link work on iPhone?
Not reliably. UPI apps on iOS register their own URL schemes rather than a shared upi:// handler, so a link often fails silently there. The QR code works everywhere — scan it from inside a UPI app.
